Pyrenees 2011 - PIRINEOMANIA APRIL - DAY 3 and 4

DAY 3.

The murderer always returns to the scene, so to sanctify the Passover, the writer and his girlfriend, because schedule changes last minute Pyrenean improvised a circular path for a couple of days in the north. Making use of the tracks accumulated after Pyrenean latest incursions came out a circular route of 445 kilometers, with Aderantes starting and ending point, and Baths of Piglet and Ecuador.

This time we visited the deep valley road Vaicafos to Puis, whence the track that goes from 1000 to 2200 meters Holder Coll.

Imagen

Snow, fair. We were just north of the tracks Lluis.

Imagen

is trying to avoid the highest peaks and snow fields a few days before had given us so much work.

Imagen

In the first big climb I lost some luggage, so that was kind M to rescue him.

Imagen

Indeed, M and I use the same bike, what a coincidence.

Imagen

Progress towards Estop seemed expedient,

Imagen

until we encounter the first barrier,

Imagen

which overcome with suspicion. Unfortunately, the next mass of snow and ice, which is visible in the distance was too large and steep to get to dig and chart a path for bikes. The outside door did not seem wise, so we stepped back to Coll's Fork and from there we track down

Imagen

to the bottom station Lluis and finally by road until Piral. Much

Chistorri asphalt to where we go back to Brown following a long, long valley.

Imagen

In the Pla de Beret did the traditional picture with the snowy landscape in the background.

Imagen

From Cabreira north improvise a new route, which eventually became a narrow path down easy, too bad I had done right in some people. To end the day we had one last stretch of track, impossible to meet if the snow had cleared the path. If last year in late May, the thing was so

Imagen
now mid
April, no outside help, the thing could be completely insurmountable.

All sections of track for this long valley were marked by road signs (one riddled with perdigonazos) where the movement is prohibited between 1 November and I do not know if the 1 April or May or June, was too bad the sign, and incidentally also reminded you the amount of penalties (up to 30000 euros). This high figure was M is etched in his memory, and as she confessed later, led all the while thinking how I was going to pay that amount if we feathered the rangers.

The fact is that we find them soon after starting up to a certain hill. I painted the thing wrong from the start: too much snow on the runway, a sign that the snow had not happened, and the rain began to fall. When you exit a corner we saw a 4x4 about 100 meters down to us "playing" on snow "guards!? Indeed, once we passed and it was an official car. I did the Swedish and asked about the status of the track. They said I could go 2 miles, but then there was so much snow that it would be impossible to continue. Without more, went their way.

We take this stop to clad the anoraks and decide what to do. Maybe the guards they planned to wait for us all the way down near the entry sign to prescribe? Down very slowly, and worse time up there, so after some minutes of reflection, we also went down. We find them detained along with tourism chatting with the owners and we went through the side quietly. And track again to those people.

road already under a thin but persistent rain we went to Baths of Piglet, after slippery ascent and descent of the Cotillion Coll.

End of Day.

DAY 4.

The second day had a little asphalt and basically start cycling, because from Piglet follow the trail of some common port of the Tour de France, as the Col d'Azet or Peyresourde.

Imagen

Before leaving France tried to raise a few lakes that presumably should offer fantastic scenery of the mountains, but access was cut off halfway. Here the offroad is complicated: either everything is paved or all is prohibited. Let's say as in Spain, but with less land.

The return went through the tunnel of Bielsa, whose setting on the French side was frozen.

Imagen

are in permanent works and what regulates a traffic light. If the tunnel is three kilometers long and should be allowed to pass alternatively through a sloping tunnel and the asphalt in the repair process, you can imagine the wait time. Well, the light turned green in the middle of the shoot

Imagen

and caught us off balance, did not last even a minute green, so we had to wait a little longer the next turn in place so bleak. Needless to say we got the first in the queue and that as soon as the lights went out guns opened downhill to Spain. We expected the sun to the other side, guess what the topic, but odd: gray skies, cold and drizzle to Napalm.

In Napalm ate heavily, and immediately we waited for the hill of Tuna, a climb of 1000 meters of altitude curvy do well at home where the digestion of beans and steak engulfed. It goes against my principles to eat and then drive, but we had gone cold in the morning was interested in seeing some calories. The waiter told us to overcome the hill by car was impossible because of snow, but maybe we could get on a bike. We sent the tourist office for more information, but as you can imagine, we decided to check ourselves. Or spent the hill and we had to make a detour asphalt noses. To make matters worse, when we left the restaurant it was raining. And if we got up the hill and had to go back, my girlfriend would kill me. But hey, if last night had been able to eat something like this,

Imagen

I thought it would hold the stake as hard this was.

soaking the limit of reasonableness, we were climbing. About 1800 meters of snow were large islands appear on the track. It was bound to reach the 2000, just in the stretch cemented when the target item was going to sentencing in the hill of Tuna. Well, better said, the judge would be the abandoned car in the middle of the road.

Imagen

something cleaned the hall that had been around the car and off we went.

Imagen

The worst thing was the frozen snow stuck to the cement. M's bike went well, but mine clashed with the panniers on both sides.

Imagen

distort a little, I got it.

Imagen

By now we were somewhat soggy indeed.

Imagen

raining, snowing, fog descended.

Imagen

Hopefully there would be no serious obstacles in the descent to Kia,

Imagen

only few patches of snow on the road

Imagen

more fun that made the descent.

Imagen

Descent in the rain, meteor compared with the snow and we cared little. The section to the Bridge of Trues had no more mystery just try a new link that had been prepared for this trip in particular. We drove at a good pace by thick forest on damp soil in excellent condition and just after a rocky technical descent and asphalt near the disaster happened in a fall. M not coming, and when I turned on the light I saw the bike fall together in a place where it could hardly be expected for a shock. Surely the accumulated fatigue prevented him from seeing a single loose boulder, which caught the rear wheel suddenly dismounting badly.

The trapajazo had no serious physical consequences, only a strong hit in the thigh. As the protagonist says at that moment, the worst thing was not hit, but the psychic consequences later, he lost the feeling on the bike and led the last 40 miles just thinking not to fall and reach an inn soon. Still had enough humor to compare our boots and draw conclusions on what had been the fastest line on the muddy ruts.

Imagen

After trapajazo, proceed.

Imagen

Imagen

Some narrow section was than expected,

Imagen

but no major incidents have we come to the inn at dusk. We had planned a third day of action enduro morning, but in view of the lack of motivation and physical condition of my partner, we left at about 5O kilometers in the rain irrelevant link to the trailer. Luckily we caught the days of Holy Week that would be fine.
