Front Holes Of A Woman

The Ramones

The Ramones were a punk band formed in Forest Hills in Queens, New York, USA, 1974.

pioneers and leaders of the nascent punk rock, cemented the foundation of this musical compositions simple, minimalist and very simple, repetitive lyrics, or even meaningless, in clear contrast to the pomp and pageantry of the bands who triumphed in the market of the 1970: the long guitar solos, complex progressive rock songs and his enigmatic lyrics. Their sound is characterized by rapid and direct, with influences from 1950's rockabilly, surf rock, The Beatles, The Velvet Underground, the band of girls from the 60's and The Shangri-Las and the garage proto-punk of MC5 and The Stooges.

Ramones led the first wave of punk in New York, sharing the stage of CBGB Patti Smith, Television, Talking Heads, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers, Blondie and Richard Hell, among others, and serving as inspiration for the vast majority of punk bands emerged in the 70's. As one of the most important bands in rock history, his influence is felt in almost all formations of post punk.

Throughout his career, the Ramones released 14 studio albums and several compilations and live albums, making a total of 21 albums. Despite their current fame, the group only managed a gold record, thanks to the compilation Ramonesmania in 1988, and only two of their albums got beyond the top 50 on the U.S. Billboard. None of their singles got commercial impact. The band disbanded in 1996, after finishing the last show of their world tour in Argentina and then withdrawn at the Lollapalooza festival. Three of its four original members (Joey Ramone, Johnny Ramone and Dee Dee Ramone) died in an interval of eight years since the disappearance of the band. In 2002 the group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The Ramones were part of the first wave of punk, who was in New York City as one of its hubs together with the Ramones Londres.Además surfaced in New York punk groups like Television, Blondie and Talking Heads and artists such as Richard Hell and Patti Smith, but that sounded different from the Ramones. While these groups were more intellectual and conceived the music making in a more artistic, the Ramones very short songs composed a handful of chords with lyrics very simple or even meaningless. The result was a formula returning to the roots of rock and roll of 50 and 60, before the arrival of the Beatles, but with a significantly faster tempo than the genre and it sounded like something new.

Minimalist music, noisy Fast is influenced by pop music with the band members grew during the decade of the 50 and 60, as The Beach Boys, The Kinks, The Who, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and some of the bands proto punk like The Stooges and New York Dolls. It also means a reaction against the complex and highly produced rock 70's, with exponents as Led Zeppelin and progressive rock artists that dominated the charts in this decade. The Ramones were seen as the leaders of the punk scene, thanks largely to their first four albums, which formed the basis on which settled the other post punk bands. This influenced sound good As the new wave of British heavy metal that emerged in Britain in the mid to late 70's with bands like Motörhead (who wrote the song "RAMONES"), Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, as well as speed metal. The career of the Ramones in the 80 got into the land of hardcore punk, with albums like Too Tough to Die and Halfway to Sanity, also exert a considerable influence on the genre.

The Ramones and other punk groups later helped move the stadium rock of smaller clubs in accordance with the simple philosophy that preaches this genre. On stage, the band always stood facing the audience, taking the bassist and guitarist legs spread and bent instrument between them. Johnny Ramone did not like looking guitarists who played the drums, amp or anything else other than the public.

The image of the Ramones on stage complemented the theme of their songs and concerts. All band members went to the concerts with leather jackets, ripped jeans, sports shirts and long hair in honor of the rock stars of the 50, and showing that there was no need to dress extravagantly and luxury to play rock music. This trend emphasized the minimalism of their music, which was a major influence on the scene New Yorker 70. Tommy Ramone emphasized that, both musically and visually, "were influenced by the comics, the work of Andy Warhol and the avant-garde cinema."

The band logo was created by artist Arturo Vega, a friend of Joey and Dee Dee offered to stay on your floor. Vega was the shirt of the band, their biggest source of income, basing most of the images in black and white photograph he had taken from his belt with the buckle of the bald eagle, which appeared on the cover of first album of the band. The artist was inspired by a trip to Washington DC to create the logo: "I watched as the last band of all Americans. For me, they reflect the American character in general, a childlike innocent aggressiveness. So the first time I went to Washington DC, was impressed by the atmosphere of the buildings and official bodies and flags everywhere. I thought, 'The Great Seal of the President of the United States would be perfect for the Ramones, with the eagle holding the arrows, to symbolize strength and aggression used against anyone who dares to attack us, and an olive branch, which offered to those who want to be friends. " But we decided to change a bit. Instead of the olive branch, we had an apple tree branch, because the Ramones were as American as apple pie. And Johnny was a fan Baseball, put the eagle with a bat instead of the arrows. "

The eagle's beak roll originally reading" Look Out / Below "(Care / Down), but was changed to" Hey ho! Let's go! "By the cries of opening of" Blitzkrieg Bop ", while the arrowheads of the shield came from a design of a T's own Vega. Where the presidential seal reading" Seal of the President of the United States " around the eagle, Vega put in place the names of the four band members, that would change according to movements in alignment with it. Finally, Vega was hired as the manager also lighting the band concerts and in charge of merchandising. Members
