System of a Down (also known as System or abbreviated by their initials, SOAD) was a band of Armenian descent formed in Los Angeles in 1995. It was an alternative metal band. At first they called Soil, but then adopted the name "System of a Down" inspired by the Victims of a Down poem written by guitarist Daron Malakian. They are famous for performing songs with lyrics maintaining an ideology against child abuse, violence, war, violent pornography and male, the dominance of money on society, the social, physical and ideological of every human being, intolerance, discrimination, among other , the main topics that this band is shown to the contrary.

His most notable influences come from bands that started with alternative rock. They also had influences from genres like heavy metal, jazz fusion, folk, hard rock, psychedelic rock, funk, classic rock, blues and industrial. They also have political influences that are reflected in his speeches against the American system, the social unconscious and abuse of power. This social and musical formula has resulted from the release of their first album (in 1998) good results both from the public, which made System of a Down, one platinum, as part of a music critic. Fue mejor elected a new metal band of 2005 at the MTV Europe Music Awards concluded in Lisbon.
